Food Pantry

The number of families coming for food and registering as you might imagine continues to rise. The Community Food bank of Alabama has completed their move and we are looking forward to them getting settled in. We are doing our best to source food, and many are reaching out to help us. Volunteers are now gleaning food from over a halfdozen locations making over 20 runs a week. What we need most now is prayer: for our families, our volunteers, for inspiration as we try to circumvent shortages and optimize the gifts we are receiving.

Holy Rosary operates a Food Ministry for the benefit our our neighbors in Gate City and throughout the Woodlawn and East Lake zip codes that is without parallel in the broader metro area. Our Pantry performs entirely on the efforts of volunteers. Not just from our parish but simply of “people of good will.”

We continue to be blessed with more volunteers and locations willing to donate food to us. We are continuing to supply well over 1,000 boxes a month of food to families in need including: fresh fruit & vegetables, dairy products, bakery goods, shelf stable vegetables & meat & more.

We need your help for funding, identifying sources of food to distribute, and volunteers to support the Pantry’s operations and to make regularly scheduled runs to collect food from area grocery stores and deliver it to Holy Rosary.
